The Cheshire Barytes Company Mine is near Cheshire, Connecticut. Historically the site has been part of the Cheshire Mining District. The Cheshire Barytes Company Mine was closed at the time of data entry with no known plans to re-open. Past operations took place from 1868 to 1872, 1873 to 1878. The ore mined is composed of barite. Associated rock in this area is diabase from the Upper Triassic epoch 237.00 to 201.30 million years ago. The New England Upland Section of the Appalachian Highlands characterize the geomorphology of the surrounding area.
