The Brookfield Lead Mine is near Brookfield, Connecticut. Historically the site has been part of the Brookfield Mining District. The Brookfield Lead Mine was closed at the time of data entry with no known plans to re-open. Production size when active was considered to be small. The ore mined is composed of galena and sphalerite with waste material consisting primarily of dolomite, phlogopite and calcite. Associated rock in this area is granite from the Lower Devonian epoch 419.20 to 393.30 million years ago. The New England Upland Section of the Appalachian Highlands characterize the geomorphology of the surrounding area.
