The Booths Lower Level Bismuth And Sulfide Mine is near Monroe, Connecticut. Historically the site has been part of the Monroe Mining District. The Booths Lower Level Bismuth And Sulfide Mine was closed at the time of data entry with no known plans to re-open. The ore mined is composed of pyrrhotite, sphalerite and pyrite with waste material consisting primarily of plagioclase, muscovite and calcite. The ore body extends 1,280 meters (4,200 feet) long and 500 meters (1,640 feet) wide. Associated rock in this area is diabase from the Upper Triassic epoch 237.00 to 201.30 million years ago. The New England Upland Section of the Appalachian Highlands characterize the geomorphology of the surrounding area.
