The Lanes Bismuth And Sulfide Mine is near Monroe, Connecticut. Historically the site has been part of the Monroe Mining District. The Lanes Bismuth And Sulfide Mine was closed at the time of data entry with no known plans to re-open. Production size when active was considered to be small. The ore mined is composed of bismuth, galena and pyrrhotite with waste material consisting primarily of calcite, microcline and quartz. Associated rock in this area is diabase from the Upper Triassic epoch 237.00 to 201.30 million years ago. The New England Upland Section of the Appalachian Highlands characterize the geomorphology of the surrounding area.
