Mine Overview

The Crooked Creek Area is in Flat, Alaska. Historically the site has been part of the Iditarod Mining District. The site was first discovered in 1910. The Crooked Creek Area was closed at the time of data entry with no known plans to re-open. Production size when active was considered to be small. The ore mined is composed of cassiterite, gold and scheelite with waste material consisting primarily of garnet, magnetite and pyrite. Associated rock in this area is rhyolite from the Pliocene epoch 5.33 to 2.58 million years ago.
