The Ancram Lead Mines are near Ancram, New York. Historically the area has been part of the New York Salisbury Iron Mining District. Production output of the Ancram Lead Mines was considered to be small size. The ore mined is composed of chalcopyrite, wulfenite and pyrite. The host rock in this area is slate from the Middle Ordovician epoch 470.00 to 458.40 million years ago. The Hudson Valley of the Appalachian Highlands characterize the geomorphology of the surrounding area.
