East Bank was incorporated in 1889 by special charter enacted by the West Virginia Legislature. It is so named because of its location east of Coalburg and the bank referring to the old terminology for a coal mine. East Bank was formerly known as Hampton and Pryor.East Bank was the site of Cabin Creek District High School erected 1912.
